PATENT AGENT/PATENT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

We are seeking engineering and technical rock stars to help secure intellectual property for some of the world’s most trailblazing companies and emerging technology innovations. These positions involve all aspects of patent development including patent preparation and prosecution. Prior experience in patent prosecution is beneficial but is not required. Successful candidates will learn from some of the best legal professionals in the industry while serving our clients who are global technology market leaders. We actively encourage professional growth and career development, including opportunities to attend law school and become a Patent Attorney while working at the firm.

Leadership Track: Slater Matsil offers Patent Agents a leadership track that is unique to the industry. Upon at least eight years’ experience as a Patent Agent and a proven track record with the firm, Patent Agents may be considered for “Distinguished Patent Agent” status. The Distinguished Patent Agent role includes involvement in firm management (including participating in decisions that impact the firm’s direction), client management, and participation in an annual bonus pool.

At Slater Matsil, your science and technology expertise is highly valued. Over 50% of our patent professionals have advanced degrees and many were previous inventors. Currently, we have 12 Ph.D. level professionals who are inventors on 144 patents. Patent Agents are also eligible to be compensated at above market rates tied to performance and revenue generation.
